Discover Canali’s latest seasonal collection inspired by the modern lines of heritage art déco style.

It is said that all new things ideas are drawn from inspirations of old; and, that in order to look forward, one must understand the past. While Canali is one of Italy’s most revered heritage tailoring labels (and therefore, the world's most revered), the brand is always looking forward into the future. However, the release of Canali’s latest collection for this Autumn/Winter 2022 draws thematic inspiration from one of history’s most iconic eras of design – the art déco aesthetic of the 1930’s.

The ‘30s was a decade that symbolized growth, recovery, and a renewed taste for art, culture, and elegant, refined dress. Now, Canali has skillfully interpreted these notions of old-world elegance and reinterpreted them into this contemporary collection.

A future drawn from the past, glimpse into the modern world as told through the visual lens of Canali in this inspired lookbook for Autumn/Winter 2022.

Double-Breasted Ebullience

Here, Canali’s distinguished KEI tailoring model is interpreted in double-breasted form complete with classic wide lapels, a style typical of the art déco period and one that has been celebrated on a mass scale in recent years. A man is perhaps at his most distinguished wearing a double-breasted suit, and when paired with a handsomely form-fitting knitted turtleneck sweater, he is dressed to his elegant best.

Suited and Subtly Striped

Pinstripes were also commonly found across tailored garments in the ‘30s, though were arguably over-spoken (and over saturated) by louder recent styles from the ‘80s. Canali’s comparatively ethereal take on the pinstripe suit here invites your imagination back to the earlier interpretations of the ‘30s, when stripes were presented in a more graceful manner. Here, they’re embodied by the KEI single-breasted model.

Dressed in Separates

Wearing tailoring doesn’t always require a suit. Instead, the modern gentleman may find that refined separates – a jacket and contrasting pair of trousers – offer a more appropriate image for his day ahead.

However, pairing jackets and trousers together is just part of the allure of this look. Express your seasoned sartorial taste with astute selections of shirts, ties, and other accoutrements.

Taking Pleasure from Patterns

Some jackets were made for business; others, for pleasure – as is the case with this patterned cashmere example. A neat windowpane expression provides visual interest against a pair of pleated cotton trousers, with a simple piece of knitwear worn in lieu of a classic shirt.

Knitwear offers variety in the way of necklines as well as practical and comforting warmth in the cooler seasons. Wear yours combined with starring tailored garments of set your jacket aside and allow your knit to play the key role.

Long Coats in Classic Cuts

The overcoat has stood the test of time across ages and generations, proving itself season after season by way of practicality and timeless style. A camel overcoat can comfortably be classified as iconic and is more than typical of the Autumn/Winter season, though this KEI model and contemporary outfit is far from commonplace.

Worn solely with a sleek white turtleneck sweater and smart wool trousers, the subtle structure of the KEI coat provides all the shape this look requires.
