Setting the Trend

The new season is coming. We’ll keep you informed about all the latest movements in menswear – and show you what they look like.

The Trend: Logomania

Let the world know whose clothes you wear. Bold, outsized designer logos have become ubiquitous in recent years – and there’s no sign they’re going away.

Dolce & Gabbana emblazon their name all over the polo. Layer it under an extremely lightweight quilted nylon track jacket – but leave the jacket unzipped and you’re still making your point.

The Trend: Performance

Get up and go on your off-duty days. These clothes are super-functional, with details like reflective patches, water-resistant fabrics, mesh linings and a plethora of discreet pockets – designed to get you to the gym, the golf course or just from point A to point B.

ISAORA specializes in sleek performance wear. Stylish shorts and a lightweight nylon jacket exemplify the company’s insistence on innovative layering technologies and state-of-the-art construction.

The Trend: Athleisure

Marry the function of athletic wear with style and, above all, comfort – that’s the definition of athleisure. Increasingly, we’re seeing streetwear items like joggers and hoodies becoming part of a contemporary outfit.

This navy woollen bomber is part of Z Zegna’s new TECHMERINO™ Wash & Go project, part of a collection of lightweight merino wool garments that regulate temperature and breathability whatever the climate. What’s more, they’re machine-washable.

The Trend: Soft Business

A soft, unfussy reinterpretation of classical business attire makes for comfortable, easy dressing. The impression is informal but still well put together.

Maurizio Baldassari makes the softly constructed jacket, the breezy cotton-linen shirt and the sophisticated turtleneck in a sumptuous silk and merino wool blend. Layer them and keep all your options open.

The Trend: Easy Tailoring

Carefree new suit styles are showing up at the office – and all over town on weekends. They’re tailored in soft jersey fabrics with natural shoulders on the unlined jackets and pleated drawstring trousers.

Z Zegna’s Wash & Go jacket and matching pants in TECHMERINOTM wool are amazingly comfortable and great for travelling. Put the outfit into its special bag and drop it into the washing machine.

Bonus Trend: Check out the cabana shirt – a much more polished version than the one your grandfather once brought back from his Cuban vacation. This lightweight, linen example with a sharp notched button-down collar is from Etro.

The Trend: Luxurious Leathers

This season, more brands than ever are working with luxurious leathers to offer a dazzling variety of bombers in everything from tan suede to chocolate brown calfskin to classic black biker jackets.

Zegna Couture provides an illustration with this vicuña-coloured field jacket made with butter-soft calf leather. A hidden drawstring lets you adjust the fit of the waist.
