What are the Shoes I Need This Summer?
LET’S START WITH THE BASICS OF A SHOE WARDROBE.
Most men’s needs can be divided into three areas: formal business, dressy casual and weekends. Your first pair of shoes is for work. We often recommend a brown lace-up dress shoe such as cap-toe oxfords, which work well with blue and grey suits. It’s best to rotate these every other day with a second pair of dress shoes, perhaps a wingtip or monk strap in a different shade of brown or black.
Your next shoe falls into the dressy casual arena. Consider a slip-on such as a penny loafer, which is both a timeless classic and currently in fashion. Another dressy casual option that many men are favouring this season is a clean-cut sneaker in sophisticated suede or leather.
For weekends, soft-construction drivers or moccasins are recommended. Sock sneakers are also right on trend this spring. Made with a stretchy knit upper, they’re exceptionally comfortable and they work well with athleisure joggers, shorts and jeans. One of the luxuries of dressing well is picking footwear to suit the season. The summer months allow for footwear in lighter shades or eye-catching colours.
