See Your Suit on the Big Screen
Walk past the Samuelsohn area in one of three Harry Rosen stores and you’ll find yourself forced to stop, stare and marvel.
Walk past the Samuelsohn area in one of three Harry Rosen stores and you’ll find yourself forced to stop, stare and marvel. On a brightly lit screen as big as a doorway, a life-sized, three dimensional avatar strolls into view. He’s wearing a suit in a Samuelsohn fabric so true-to-life you’ll swear you can feel it. This is Samuelsohn by Design, the brainchild of Samuelsohn CEO Stephen Granovsky, and it takes the idea of custom-made tailored clothing to an unprecedented level. He partnered with a company in the Montreal gaming industry to create the software that allows such amazing resolution on the screen.
Eighteen months and a million dollars later, the interface is very much as he originally envisioned it. Now a customer can instantly see his fabric choice appear on the avatar, as a suit, a jacket or a tuxedo, with whatever design details he wishes. Instead of looking at a swatch on a card, he sees what the finished garment will look like. The creative possibilities are boundless and it’s just the beginning of an evolution as Samuelsohn continues to lead the way in the world of luxury menswear. See for yourself at Harry Rosen’s 82 Bloor Street West and Sherway Gardens stores in Toronto, and at the Les Cours Mont-Royal store in Montreal.
