How to Sport a Jacket

There’s a reason why jackets have taken centre stage in the way men dress – in fact, countless reasons. Nothing else you own is as versatile.

Mocha and a sky blue windowpane sounds like a bold colour palette but it works with multiple shades of blue, brown and grey, including our slate chinos and dark grey polo. Soft and unstructured, the jacket is as comfortable as a cardigan – perfect for travel.

This look means business. The jacket takes the spotlight with its expressive check and punch of colour – and there’s colour in the shirt, too. The plain navy grenadine tie and mid grey trousers are a touch more subdued. The full effect? Totally professional.

Different shades of blue and a discreet hint of mulberry give this jacket rich visual depth, offset by a sophisticated polo with a dress-shirt style collar. Jeans in a rich, dark denim complement the gently slubbed texture of the jacket.

The ultimate layered look is also the most practical – and again the jacket is key. Wear it over a sport shirt, and a fine-gauge cotton knit, then throw on an ultra-light nylon vest for extra warmth and a sporty finish. Flecks of navy and grey tone down the rich cranberry fabric of the jacket so it harmonizes beautifully with the rest of the outfit.
