OFF THE RUNWAY

HARRY MAGAZINE SS18 – CASUAL WEAR LOOKBOOK

There’s a new mood in the air – casual, sporty, relaxed… It’s a free-spirited and eclectic way of dressing, combining camo, khaki, denim and military references and now adding athleisure into the mix. This is athleisure’s moment. The clothes are inspired by sportswear but worn away from the gym or the track. Wear a whole outfit or just integrate something into your look. A great jacket is the essential finishing touch. Now you’re making a statement.

Paul & Shark seems simpler and more carefree than usual this season – but appearances can be deceptive. The blue nylon vest on the left is made of 777, the lightest bonded fabric in the world; it offers surprising protection for something that feels so delicate. There’s a band of 777 across the crewneck sweater, too. On the right, a clean-cut nylon bomber in army green is lined but not quilted.

Polo Ralph Lauren’s former preppy sensibilities take to the street with this utility jacket decorated with traditional Navajo designs.

The Jericho Beach Jacket from Canada Goose is perfect for spring weekends, with very lightweight quilting across the chest but nowhere else. In a light nylon tech fabric with a ribbed cotton stand-up collar and ribbed cuffs, it’s warm without being bulky.

Never a label for the faint of heart, Diesel pushes the graphic envelope with the crowned panther on this sweater and a hooded black and - grey camo windbreaker. Jog jeans are still the most comfortable and fashionable jeans you can buy.

John Varvatos Star USA gives us some of the most beautiful burnished-leather jackets on the planet and there’s always something different about them – like the button placement on the example on the left. On the right, a patched aviator jacket lets you spice up a casual outfit without having to try too hard.

Moncler shows us a cool way to layer. There are fluorescent details on the T-shirt under the hooded, lightly quilted fluorescent yellow nylon vest. On top, the separate camo nylon shell is so lightweight it’s almost sheer. Camel camo Bermuda shorts make their own statement.
