California Dreaming

BOSS sails into spring with a breezy collection inspired by West Coast cool.

The first chill of fall may be in the air, but the sun was shining brightly for BOSS’ Spring-Summer 2019 presentation at New York Fashion Week earlier this month. Dubbed “California Breeze,” the collection features a range of relaxed, minimalist styles inspired by the easygoing West Coast lifestyle, and designed to take you from desk-side to poolside and beyond.
“The highlight for us is the new ‘active suit’,” says Edward Liston, Harry Rosen’s Merchandise Manager. The jacket and pants are cut from the same fabric as in a traditional suit, he says, but the pants feature a drawstring closure for added comfort and versatility. Constructed of a technical blended wool for enhanced breathability, the pieces are designed to be worn together or separately. “It’s so versatile,” says Liston. “It’s a great look with a knit, with jeans, or as a casual-chic sportswear look. It’s a very cool suit for the guy that wants to go from work to evening to weekend.”

While BOSS continues to provide a wide range of high-quality suiting in a variety of fits, their traditional offerings are supplemented for Spring 2019 with a handful of new, fashion-forward options from the NYFW runway. Among these is a double-breasted suit featuring high-cuffed trousers, a collection of colourful knitwear jerseys and a soft-shouldered jacket in a modern slim cut.

“It’s a sport jacket-outerwear combination—it’s not traditional by any stretch," says Liston of the latter, praising it as a compelling option for customers in search of a fresh accent to their spring wardrobes.

Next spring may still be far off, but thanks to BOSS’ California Breeze there’s already plenty to look forward to at Harry Rosen.
