How to get yourself in a knot

FOUR IN HAND
1. With wide end of tie on your right, one foot longer than thin end, cross wide end over thin end.
2. Bring wide end back underneath.
3. Cross wide end back over thin end.
4. Pass wide end up through loop.
5. Holding front of knot loose with index finger, pass wide end down through folds of knot.
6. Tighten knot carefully. Slide know up snugly to collar.
MILANESE
1. Cross wide end of tie over thin end. Hold in place.
2. Wrap tie around centre point.
3. Wrap tie once more around centre point.
4. Bring tie up through loop.
5. Pass tie down through folds of knot.
6. Pull tie to the side to gently tighten knot.
7. Tidy top and sides of the knot before drawing it up snugly to collar.
WINDSOR
1. Cross wide end of tie over thin end.
2. Bring wide end up through loop and down.
3. Bring wide end behind thin end and up to your right.
4. Pass wide end down through loop and bring back across thin end to right.
5. Turn wide end and bring up through loop.
6. Pass wide end down through folds of knot. Tighten knot carefully. Slide knot up snugly to collar.
HALF WINDSOR
1. Cross wide end of tie over thin end.
2. Bring wide end back underneath thin end.
3. Bring wide end up and turn down through loop.
4. Pass wide end over knot from left to right.
5. Turn wide end and bring up through loop.
6. Pass wide end down through folds of knot. Tighten knot carefully. Slide knot up snugly to collar
BOW TIE
1. Start with end in left hand extending 1 - 1/2" below that in right hand.
2. Cross longer end over shorter and pass up through loop.
3. From front loop of bow by doubling up shorter end (hanging) and placing across collar points.
4. Hold this front loop with thumb and forefinger of left hand. Drop long end down over front.
5. Place right forefinger, pointing up, on bottom half of hanging part. Pass us behind front loop and ...
6. Poke resulting loop through knot behind front loop (see illustration). Even ends and tighten.
ASCOT
1. Start with the right end extending 6" below the left end.
2. Cross the right end over left end and back underneath.
3. Continue around, passing right end across the front end of left end once more.
4. Pass right end up though loop at neck.
5. Bring right end down over left end.
6. Adjust bib at through to cover the knot. Tuck ascot points under shirt front leaving neck open.
