Robert Talbott

Robert Talbott

Robert Talbott is an iconic American, most famous for its superb silk ties. Robert Talbott himself was a New York banker – gregarious, charismatic and well connected – with an entrepreneurial streak. When his family moved to California, Audrey began to sew bow ties but it wasn’t until the tiny cottage industry started to make regular four-in-hand ties that the bottom line began to improve. They opened their first store in Carmel in 1958; in the 1960s, the firm became renowned across North America for the quality of its neckwear. Few disputed its claim that a Talbott Seven Fold was “the finest tie human hands can produce.”
